A Bird in Hand by Allison Lane (5 stars)

Full Description: Amazon

Rating: 5 out of 5

Thoughts After Reading: Yay, a quality classic regency! And it is a traditional regency of the first order: the hero meets the heroine by saving her life (he also happens to be a duke), the hero is not a rake and plans on marriage from the beginning (initially out of duty), the heroine is strong and independent woman (who happens to have a few side careers) and who is afraid of giving up her rights by marrying. Oh, and through a series of events the hero is mistaken for an untitled gentlemen. All plot elements I have heard before; and yet, Lane weaves everything together in a very plausible and enjoyable romance. The hero and heroine develop a respect and companionship with each other throughout the story, and hero gets the chance to prove the strength of his love at the end.

  1. Another one I haven't read, but I did recently read A Regency Christmas Holiday (free on Kindle) which had a short story by Allison Lane, A Christmas Homecoming, that I enjoyed. Well worth a read and it's free.
